Drywall From China May Cause Health Hazards

AS if we haven’t had enough bad news lately, now we have just a little more.  It has been reported in the Sarasota Herald Tribune that families in the Lighthouse Cove section of Heritage Harbour have reported becoming ill, and toxicity in the drywall is highly suspected, which was used in the contruction of their home.  The suspected drywall was imported from China.  You can read the full newspaper article here

I don’t get on my soap box often, but I just can’t help it on this one.   Good Grief!   Enough is enough with the Chinese imports!  Chinese imports quality control has proven abysmal.  Toxic pet food, lead-laced childrens toys,  poisoned snacks tainted toothpase, contaminated  medicines, bad seafood, mad cow diseased beef, defective tires, defective tire stems, UGGH!

Why does our government  allow this crap in our country any more? …. maybe this is a danger in compiling trillions in debt which China purchases and controls.

Stop this insanity, do what you can, stop buying anything made from China whenever and wherever possible.  Choose the American brand, choose the Mexican brand, choose ANY brand except the Chinese brand.   Past investigations have proven some of their products are  literally killing us!   This is the ONLY way it will stop.   Corporations, STOP using China as your supplier. STOP this insanity!

These families bought homes that are potentially causing who knows what kind of harm!  How many people died from crappy tires, or became ill from eating imported food, kids ingesting lead from their toys.  It is all UNACCEPTABLE!  Period!

Ya know, if it is proven the drywall is toxic, I look at it this way……There was no drywall shortage at the time despite the building industry’s claims.  There was plenty around, I could buy it at Home Depot!  …but the “non-lethal” option probably cost a little more.  In the effort to save a buck, the builder buys this chinese garbage!   Not like builders were not raking in the cash at the time either….I am guessing the non-poisonous gypsum board was probably still “affordable”.  This is what happens when you buy the absolute cheapest possible materials….

As with most of this country’s of current economic crises, Greed is the common denominator that ties it all together.

Enough!   I have decided that my family will happily pay a little more moving forward to avoid anything made from China.  A challenge…Absolutely!  And yes, it will take more effort to research the labels of anything we buy,  but this is the only way things will change.  Maybe corporate America will wake up someday too, and maybe our goverment will take more aggressive action to protect us….. my opinion is to protect yourself though, ….it doesn’t appear anyone else will.
